TRAINING

Across California, CASA programs serve highly diverse populations and face unique community challenges. California CASA believes the best way to sustain a strong, responsive, and thriving network is through opportunities for ongoing professional development and training.

Serving the State through Training Opportunities
Our training programs, featuring expert lecturers and child-welfare specialists, range from an annual multi-day conference to monthly program, marketing, fundraising, and policy focused webinars and in-person classes for CASA staff and volunteers to receive specialized trainings.

California CASA Academy

In April 2026, California CASA launched its new statewide Learning Management System, California CASA Academy, powered by the LearnWorlds platform. This centralized, scalable infrastructure unifies all trainings for CASA volunteers, staff, and board members, from pre-service to in-service, into a single cohesive system.

The Academy, offered at no cost to the 44 local CASA programs, ensures that every volunteer, regardless of geography, receives high-quality, evidence-informed training to effectively advocate for children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect. Well-trained CASA volunteers are better equipped to identify needs, elevate the voice of children and youth, and more effectively advocate for critical services, including safe placements, educational support, and mental health care.

Our curriculum meets the training requirements of California Rule of Court 5.655 and the California Welfare and Institutions Code.
