Here is a useful resource to kinship caregivers in your area. 1-800-KIN-0047 (1-800-546-0047) is a toll-free number for relative caregivers seeking support.
Please share this number with your colleagues and families you serve. This phone number connects caregivers with their own personal Navigator. Navigators provide direction to resources helpful in the raising of a child of a relative. Navigators are available 10 hours a day Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm. Services are determined on an individual basis and no appointments are necessary.
This service is brought to you by California Kinship Navigator Program, a group of programs sponsored by the federal government for the state of California to support kinship caregivers.
What is kinship?
When crisis, substance abuse, mental illness, incarceration, economic hardship, divorce, domestic violence, or other challenges take parents from a child, other family members often step up to fill the gap. These courageous and caring grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings are commonly known as “kinship caregivers.”
